The Lao Kitchen
Inside the Alounemay Market
The Lao Kitchen is inside the Alounemay Market located at 2601 West Gate City Boulevard. This family owned establishment has been around for several years and has a variety of Asian goods. Today I decided to get the Chicken Laab. I ordered it “spicy” because I definitely enjoy a strong kick to my food. Asian spicy is not the same of level of “spicy” that we are used to here in the US; it packs more of a punch.

Chicken Laab
The plate came out fresh and hot with sliced cucumbers and sticky rice. Laab is essentially chopped, minced meat (this is chicken but they offer beef, duck, etc) with lime juice, fish sauce, onions and other spices, ingredients, etc. It was very spicy, fragrant and fresh.

Sticky Rice
The sticky rice was tightly packed and warm. The rice helps to reduce the spice of the dish. All together it came up to be $16 which is not too bad considering this is two meals for me. I will be back!
